What’s Inside.

Garbanzo Beans

The main attraction of this show is undoubtedly the garbanzo bean, also known as a chickpea. Chickpeas have grown in popularity in the west over the past 15 years as they are truly a super-food containing a number of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.

While beloved by many, the garbanzo bean can be especially beneficial for those who adopt a plant-based diet as they are high in both fiber and protein.

Lemon Juice

One of the many lessons that my Sitto has taught me about cooking is that the best way to enhance any dish is with lemon. Most people who grow up in a family with roots in the Middle East will understand the importance that lemon brings to the cuisine.

The bright citrus flavor that comes from a lemon works in perfect harmony with the parsley, mint, and garlic ever-present in Lebanese cooking. his natural preservative plays a key role in making our hummus stand out from the crowd.

Tahini

Tahini is a condiment made from toasted ground hulled sesame. The sesame paste has an entirely unique consistency and a rich, nutty flavor that works well to create savory sauces, dressings, and dips. Tahini-based sauces are commonly served in the Middle East as a side dish, a garnish, and on its own as a necessary ingredient in both hummus and baba ganoush.

Tahini can be hard to find and is often expensive. For this reason many people look for ways to substitute this ingredient. On the contrary we believe that there is nothing quite like tahini and will never substitute or omit it from our hummus.

Garlic

Fresh garlic plays an important role in Middle Eastern food culture. People in Arab countries hold garlic in high esteem due to not only the strong flavor that it brings to a dish, but also because it possesses antimicrobial and antiviral properties that are beneficial to those who consume it.

Middle Eastern countries such as Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon, and Cyprus tend to showcase stronger flavors in their cuisine than those farther to the east. Fresh garlic is a strong and impactful flavors, and for that reason we always include a healthy dose of it in our hummus.
